Students at Dersingham VA Primary and Nursery School put together a special workout assembly during a visit from North West Norfolk MP Sir Henry Bellingham on Friday, April 20.

The children were able to display the exercises they have learnt as part of their regular school routine with Mr Bellingham even joining in.

The school has worked alongside Fitter Future, an organisation which aims to get children more active more often through a series of short workouts designed for schools and at home.

They provide schools with 10 minute online classes which can be carried out in the classroom or at home with the family.

The workout classes are aimed to be fun and engaging for children to encourage them to exercise regularly. The youngsters are able to incorporate the exercises they learn from the online workouts with other activities, ranging from jogging around the field to Zumba and rowers.

A spokesman from Dersingham Primary School said: 'The children spend 20 minutes every morning doing exercises to promote health and wellbeing.

'One of the fun activities they all enjoy is using Fitter Future workouts in the classroom, these can be carried out at any time of the day and are tailored to the children's age and ability, with various options to choose from.

'During Friday's visit, Jack from Fitter Future was able lead an assembly getting all the children involved and Henry Bellingham delighted the children by joining in, both in the school hall and the classroom.

'The children were able to talk about the health benefits of regular exercise and teachers have noted the increased concentration during lessons.'

Jack Butterfield, from Fitter Future, added: 'Dersingham Primary School have teamed up with Fitter Future to make physical activity fun, engaging and accessible for all students.

'We put children's enjoyment first so that their love for being active reflects ours.

'As big kids at heart ourselves, we know how important it is for something to be fun for children to ensure they want to do it time and time again.'
