Firefighters are running a contest for school pupils to design their lown safety posters.

It's open to all Key Stage One and Two pupils in West Norfolk, with each school nominating six to be entered in a grand final.

Entries should be submitted on an A4 paper and points will be awarded for fire safety message, visual appeal and originality.

Entries should focus on smoke alarm tips and the importance of escape plans. Winning entries will be displayed in the Vancouver Quarter and elsewhere around King's Lynn.

Winning pupils will receive goodie bags and a chance to meet the mayor, as well as a trip to the fire station for their class.

Crew manager Dean Lacey, who is organising the contest, said: 'It's just a way to engage with the community, especially children.'

The closing date is April 28 and the winners will be announced on May 1.
