A new headteacher has been appointed to oversee two north Norfolk schools.

Jo Read has been chosen to take the role of executive headteacher at North Walsham Junior and Infant Schools from September.

It comes after the promotion of existing headteacher Clare Fletcher to director of schools at the Yare Education Trust, which is based at Thorpe St Andrew School and Sixth Form.

Mrs Read, who is currently headteacher at Worstead Primary, said she was excited to start at 'such a positive place' in the schools' development, and said she was looking forward to meeting the school community.

Paul East, chairman of governors, said: 'I am pleased that we were able to attract such a high calibre professional to lead our two schools. We are confident that the excellent work done over the past 16 years by Mrs Fletcher, to improve the schools and build such a wonderful reputation, will now be continued into the future.'
