Canaries star to support Spanish class

Schoolchildren will learn Spanish with the help of a Premiership footballer.

Javier Garrido, below, the Canaries' Spanish defender, has signed up to support Norfolk County Council's new educational project, Spanish Double Club, which is being launched today.

The Double Club teaches Spanish through football-themed lessons and sport sessions, and the leftback will record the voiceover for audio used in lessons.

During the six-week project, students will listen to clips of Mr Garrido speaking Spanish and learn how to speak, write and read the language.

Study centre manager Paul Wickens said: 'This is an exciting new project that we are thrilled to be involved in, and hope to be able to offer to more schools later this year.
