Pupils at six Norfolk schools are being given the chance to take part in a special film-making project with the BBC on the theme of 'Making a Change4Life'.

The BBC will train each group of pupils to make a short film for the Norfolk Insight website. The film will also be shown in the BBC Norfolk Children and Young People's Film Festival 2011, which takes place in Fusion at The Forum in Norwich in July.

The initiative is for six and seven-year-olds and is a partnership between NHS Norfolk and BBC Voices.

One school already taking part in the project is Sutton Infant School near Stalham. Teacher Vicki Aldous said: 'They have grown a range of fruit and vegetables in the school garden and used these to taste and also cook with.

'At break and lunchtimes the children have a range of small and large equipment to use, ranging from ride-on bike and trikes to a trim trail and mounds that they can run up and roll down.'

The filming project is taking place over two sessions, one half day at the school and one full day at the BBC Voices studio, with eight pupils from the school, at The Forum in Norwich.

Hannah Critten, NHS Norfolk's Healthy Weight, Healthy Lives co-ordinator, said: 'The experience of the children from Sutton Infant School shows how the project can be enjoyable and educational at the same time, it raises confidence and supports kids to learn a new skill. We are appealing to teachers and pupils from other schools both primary and secondary, to sign up and take part.'
