A small village school near Fakenham has opened a new play area thanks to the determined fund-raising efforts of its Parent-Teacher Association (PTA).
The PTA at Blenheim Park Primary School, which has just 79 pupils, raised an impressive £8,000 in a year. A further £10,000 came from a Lottery grant.
Chairman of the PTA, Nicola Tooth, organised much of the
fundraising along with Rose Morgan, Marie Spooner, Kerry Archer and other PTA members.
Mrs Tooth said: 'We have held race nights, bingos, fetes, fairs and discos – all sorts of things.
'At times we didn't think we would manage to raise the £8,000 but we have done and the equipment is fantastic.'
Headteacher Richard Stanley said: 'It is absolutely amazing to see how much money has been raised in such a small space of time and it is a credit to all of those involved.'
The school wishes to thank all of the businesses and individuals who supported them, in particular Howdens in Fakenham who donated a dishwasher and a freezer which were sold to make a major contribution to the fundraising.
