A school has celebrated a successful year of GCSE and A Level results with a speech day at St Edmundsbury Cathedral.

Thetford Grammar School recorded remarkable results this summer, with 38pc of A Level grades awarded at A*-A and 95pc of GCSE students achieving at least five A*-C grades including English and Maths.

The speech day celebrated the school's recent academic and extra-curricular achievements in theatre, sports, music, debating and volunteering, with prizes also awarded to students who performed exceptionally well in their exams.

It also marked the end of a successful first year for headmaster Mark Bedford.

Principal guest at the event on September 16 was former Thetfordian Frank Onians, who awarded prizes to pupils for effort and achievement over the past academic year as well as sharing his experiences and expertise.
