The US presidential elections, a hot topic and one that received a large amount of attention. Be it from news outlets, TV shows, or social media; opinion and discussion has sparked from it. However, whenever I saw a story about Trump or Clinton, I ask myself the same question: was there too much media coverage? Granted, it was an interesting and often concerning subject.

But is there a limit on how much we should be discussing such a matter?

I don't know about everyone else, but when I go on to social networking sites, it's often to relax or pass time, and usually not worry about other things. This extends beyond Facebook, as I tend to visit other public content sharing sites such as Reddit and Imgur more often. My vain attempts at enjoyment are unfortunately met with yet another post describing why Trump is a terrible leader. Even my friends and family can't abstain from sharing news articles and websites about the latest events.

For me personally, this obsession with the election became annoying very quickly. While there was a lot to talk about on the subject, the oversaturation of it became increasingly tiring, and it's also got very repetitive for me. Either Clinton had done something corrupt or Trump had done something offensive; these issues were important, but it was hard not to get desensitized to the whole thing with there being so much of it in such a short span of time.

This issue was one which effected other young people as well, such as Jack Gunnill, 17, who attends Downham Market Sixth Form and with whom I spoke. 'Keeping up with current events is important for young people,' he said, 'however there is definitely a point where it becomes too much, especially on sites that I go to in my spare time.'

As said before, there's no doubt that this is a crucial and paramount event, that much is undeniable, yet oversaturation leads to a lack of interest, and at points like these, where the outcome could have such grand effects on the rest of the world, is making people indifferent such a good idea?
