It is feared that Stibbard Children's Day Care could close in July if a new chairman is not found.

The centre is run by a charity, is managed by a committee of parents and currently supports 70 children aged between two and 11.

It provides a holiday club, after school club, breakfast club and day care nursery.

It has been running for 25 years and has been at its current site on Fulmodeston Road for 11 years.

The centre's current chairman is to stand down in July and efforts to find a new chairman have been on-gong for the last six months without success.

The charity Action For Children, which is based at the same site, is not under threat.

Dawn Smith, acting day care manager at Stibbard Children's Day Care, said: 'There is a great need in this area for the services that we provide and it would cause a real problem for people if we did have to close.

'It is a common problem in the north Norfolk area to find chairperson.

'It is a voluntary role it is requires people to have a certain skill set but training can be provided by Norfolk County Council.

'The centre is run by a management committee of parents but you don't need to be a parent to do the job. We are calling out to the wider community for support.

'It can be very rewarding to know that you are helping the community and having a say over how things are run.

'We are hoping someone can come forward to help us.'

The centre offers services to families from the Fakenham area and nearby villages.

It supports a number of children with special educational needs and disabilities.
