Students at Downham Preparatory School kicked off the Chinese New Year celebrations with a roaring start.
Principal Mrs Sharpe greeted the pupils this morning with 'kong hei fat choi' - happy new year in Chinese.
The reception class put together a play of the 'Animal Race' dressed in the 12 different animals of the Chinese calender.
Mrs Sharpe then produced a replica lion's head - which is 120 years old - and a dragon cape. Some of the children donned the animal costume and danced around the hall to Chinese music.
The Chinese New Year falls on Saturday, January 28 - the year of the rooster.
