The junior children then performed to the parents and visitors on their newly acquired ukuleles with senior teacher Marshall Schaitel.

Executive headteacher Mary Dolan said: 'It is so important for children to learn the life skills of cooking and to taste the widest possible range of foods, especially those that we are able to grow in the school garden.'

The play area was funded with the help of a charitable donation and tireless fund raising by the Friends of Walsingham School.
