The name 'Albert', meaning 'noble, bright and famous', was revived in the 19th century in honour of Prince Albert, consort of Queen Victoria.

Splendid two-year-old mastiff cross, Albert, is aptly named for he is dignified, intelligent and now, a little famous.

Kate Brewster, Dogs Trust Snetterton supporter relations officer, said: 'Albert is a real sweetie with a heart of gold, and manners to match. A fine fella in so many ways, he's great to walk on a lead and is very polite and unassuming when accepting a tasty treat, which he enjoys very much.

'A calm and friendly young man, Albert would make a wonderful addition to any family with children over 11 years, simply due to his powerful physique. True to his mastiff roots, this gentle giant is both loving and loyal, and would like nothing more than to find a family of his own.'
