The Recruit Venture Group, based on Commercial Road in Dereham, donated the money made from two prizes in the night's auction to the charity.

The prizes, which included a week-long stay with flights at a Villa owned by the company in Marbella, Spain and another week at the property without travel, went for £5000 and £2500 respectively.

Paul Mizen, the company's managing director, was delighted to have raised so much.

He said: 'By donating these prizes to the ball, we were able to help contribute all-important funds to The Big C and give something back to our local community in the process.'

'It's great to see so many Norfolk businesses come together to show their support for the Big C, it is a great charity and, as learned on the night, they do an incredible amount of hard work that often goes unnoticed.'
