In August, personal trainer Ed Kerry will be running more than 1,000 miles over 22 days to raise vital funds for a charity close to his heart.

It comes following the death of Mr Kerry's sister, Tracey, who in 2003 lost her battle with a brain tumour at the age of just 34.

He said: 'Everything happened very quickly. Although feeling unwell, Tracey never knew that she was suffering from a brain tumour. She was an amazing individual with a loving husband and two fantastic children.

'Losing someone dear to you in such a sudden way is very difficult. It makes you ask questions, some of which are unanswerable, and also removes the ability to say goodbye.

'Over the last few months, I've not been able to stop thinking about the fact that this year I, too, will be 34. I now feel it's time for me to really make a difference, and hopefully prevent someone else from experiencing what my family did 14 years ago.'

Mr Kerry, who now lives in north London, said that now feels like the right time to do something to remember his sister and also to help others avoid the loss he and his family experienced.

The Castle to Castle challenge is Mr Kerry's way of raising as much money as possible for the Brain Tumour Charity and to remember his 'amazing' sister.

The 33 year old - who also holds a Guinness World Record, has trekked the Sahara, and completed ultramarathon Marathon Des Sables - will be taking on the challenge in August, where he will be running about 1,058 miles (1,703km). Approximately the same distance from Norwich to Barcelona, via London.

A former Bradenham Cricket Club player, he hoped to raise at least £50,000 by running between the castles of the capital cities within the British Isles.
