Rail travellers in East Anglia face disruption this afternoon after two people were hit by trains on lines that both serve Norwich.

The first incident happened on the Norwich to London line shortly before 9.30am between Ipswich and Manningtree when a man was hit by a train.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: 'Officers attended alongside paramedics from the East of England Ambulance Service. A man was pronounced dead at the scene.' Police are now working to find out who the man is and inform his family. His death is not being treated as suspicious.

The Norwich to London line is now open but there are likely to be delays of around 20 minutes to services between Norwich and London Liverpool Street.

Another person was hit by a train between Peterborough and Grantham on the East Midlands Line. Services between Norwich and Liverpool Lime Street are subject to delays and cancellations, Disruption is expected to continue until 3pm.
