Train services to and from Cambridge are set for a day of delays because of damaged overhead wires.

Greater Anglia said: 'Due to damage to the overhead electric wires at Cambridge some lines are blocked.

'Train services running through this station may be cancelled, delayed by up to 40 minutes or revised. Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

'It has been confirmed that there is overhead wire damage at Cambridge station. Owing to this damage the platform capacity at Cambridge station is reduced and services are being severely delayed this problem will also affect Great Northern and Cross Country services.

'We apologise for the disruption to your train services this morning.'
