A high street information centre in Diss has reduced its opening hours as a result of a reduction in county council funding.

The new hours at the Diss Council Information Centre (CIC) will mean that the building in Market Hill will be open to the public from 9.30am to 1.30pm Monday to Friday.

It comes after Norfolk County Council cut its funding for the information service, which continues to receive financial support from Diss Town Council and South Norfolk Council.

The CIC offers information on council tax, housing benefit, bin collections, travel information and timetables, handles planning application enquiries, and issues rail cards.

Officials at the town council added that a phone service will be available until 4pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and 3pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The changes, which began on April 1, also mean that all blue badge applications will be available online, via the county council customer service call centre, or through Diss council@yourlibrary.
