Cromer Road has re-opened after an emergency landing involving a 100 seater plane at Norwich International Airport this morning.

Emergency measures were put into place, involving the closure of a section of the road, at 8.05am when air traffic control received a report from an inbound flight after the pilot spotted a low hydraulic pressure warning light turned on aboard the plane. A full range of emergency services also attended the scene as part of the procedure.

The twin jet Brit Air Fokker 100 had two people on board and was arriving into the airport for engineering works and routine maintenance. It was coming in from Morlaix in France.

The plane landed safely at around 8.20am and taken off to be looked at by KLM engineers ten minutes later. The emergency was declared over by 8.26am with the road opened shortly after.

Operations director Richard Pace said that after such an incident procedure was to make sure 'everything worked as planned' on board.

He added: 'It's not a common occurrence, but whenever there's an issue like this declared with an aircraft procedure is to declare a full emergency.'
