Kind-hearted customers at a Cromer coffee bar have raised nearly £1,300 for North Norfolk Surf Life Saving Club, by donating lots for a charity auction.

Sheringham Primary school teacher Becky Robinson, who runs North Sea Coffee with her partner Stewart Thompson, who is an RNLI international programmes manager, came up with the idea of hosting an end-of-season party and sealed bid auction to raise funds for the club, which costs £10,000 a year to run and has around 100 members.

Lots included paintings by local artists, a yoga experience and a coat rack made from part of Cromer’s old lifeboat slipway.

Thanking Ms Robinson, club secretary and trainer Nick Huttley said: “We rely on fundraising entirely and keep membership fees at £10 a year to make the club accessible to everyone, so we are really grateful to everyone who has helped raise this huge amount of money.”

The club will be hosting its annual charity trail run at Felbrigg Hall on October 7. Anyone wanting to enter can register at 9am on the day. For more information, visit the North Norfolk Surf Life Saving Club Facebook page.
