A MAN who killed another man with two punches has been jailed for four years.

John Muffett, 34, of Pickards Way, Wisbech, chased 49-year-old Peter Kofie after seeing him in Churchill Road, Wisbech, at about 9pm on Sunday, August 8, last year.

He caught up with him in Norwich Road where he punched him to the head twice, knocking him to the pavement.

The assault caused a rupture to the artery in Mr Kofie's neck and he died a short while after being taken to hospital by paramedics.

Muffett was arrested on the morning of August 12 at his Wisbech home.

He initially claimed to have acted in self-defence but pleaded guilty to a charge of manslaughter on January 25.

Muffett was sentenced at Cambridge Crown Court on Friday.

Detective Chief Inspector George Barr, who led the investigation, said: 'Muffett did not intend to kill but the violence he used always ran the risk of causing serious harm.

'I hope the sentence handed down gives some comfort to Mr Kofie's family and friends who can now move on knowing that justice has been done.'
