Footage of the hit and run at the town's Vicarage Street Car Park, which sees the car drive towards the 30-year-old victim a second time, has been viewed more than one million times on the Norfolk Constabulary Facebook and YouTube pages since it was released.

The suspected attempted murder, which happened at 12.55am on Saturday, July 23, left the man with life changing injuries.

The victim, who has now been released from hospital, suffered a broken pelvis and serious leg injuries which could leave him unable to walk unaided for up to a year.

Detective Chief Inspector Stu Armes, who is leading the investigation, said: 'We have been encouraged by the response from the public since releasing the footage.

'Officers have taken a number of calls, including some offering the names of those potentially involved, and we will now be following up these lines of enquiry.

'The motivation for the incident remains unclear; however, I would like to reassure the local community we do believe this is an isolated case. Norfolk remains one of the safest places to live and work which makes this incident all the more shocking.'

He added: 'I am continuing to appeal to anyone who may know of the whereabouts of the dark coloured car, believed to be a blue Peugeot 307, involved in the incident. There is a good possibility it will be showing signs of damage and it is important we trace it to help with the investigation.

'I am also appealing for anyone who may know who was driving the vehicle to contact us.'

It's believed up to three other people could have been in the car at the time of the incident and DCI Armes has appealed to them to come forward

'Whilst you may not have been driving the car, you have significant information about this incident,' he said.

'You have one chance to come forward and tell us what happened that night or potentially face criminal action yourselves.'

A 43-year-old man from the Wymondham area has been arrested in connection with the incident. He is currently on police bail pending further enquiries.
