Fifteen-year-old Adam Wright suffered a punctured lung when he was attacked by another teenager in the city on Monday Evening.

He had been with a group of friends - and his girlfriend - at Ketts Cave, near Morley Street, when they were approached by two strangers.

Adam said one of the two older teenagers accused him of staring before walking up to him and plunging a knife into his chest.

Speaking from his hospital bed at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH), Adam claimed the attack was completely unprovoked.

He said: 'I thought he had winded me at first, but I then felt a sharp pain and could feel blood coming from my chest.

'It looked like he had used a kitchen knife, but I'm not completely sure, I was in shock.

'Everyone around me was panicking, which made me panic. I genuinely thought I was going to die.'

Adam said he started to lose his vision and went into shock after realising what had happened.

'A couple of women came out to help and one of them was a nurse, luckily,' he said.

'They said I needed to sit down and put pressure on where I had been stabbed. I'm one hundred percent grateful to them.'

Police and paramedics were called to the scene at around 6.40pm and Adam was rushed to the NNUH by ambulance.

He said he had his lung drained due to internal bleeding, adding that the knife had also 'scratched' his liver.

He is expecting to leave hospital on Thursday.

Adam said he did not recognise the attacker, who was wearing a black Armani tracksuit.

His mother, Rachel Wright, from Plumstead, said: 'Adam's girlfriend phoned me to say what had happened and I was shell shocked. Everything seemed to go in slow motion.

'I got to hospital as soon as I could and I felt so helpless. He looked so pale and was in so much pain.

'But he has a bit of colour back in his cheeks now.'

Police are still appealing for witnesses and are yet to make an arrest.
