A man who acted as a 'gardener' tending 145 cannabis plants at an address in Silver Road, in Norwich, tried to escape during a police raid by climbing out of window and on to rooftops, a court heard.

Julian Flint, 42, was arrested after police discovered the three bedrooms at the property were all being used to grow the cannabis plants which would have had a street value of about £50,000 Norwich Crown Court heard.

Martin Ivory, prosecuting said that the role of Flint was that of a gardener looking after the cannabis plants and to back this up there was a text message recovered which asked him about watering the plants.

Flint admitted being involved in the production of cannabis and was given a nine month jail sentence suspended for two years and ordered to do 150 hours unpaid work.

John Morgans for Flint said he now realises how serious his involvement was and is full of remorse.

'He will never become involved in anything like that again.'
