Monday's record-breaking temperatures may have over-heated some tempers too at an emotional game at King's Lynn Town's football ground The Walks.
Norfolk Constabulary confirmed two men were arrested on suspicion of public order offences following the play-off final with Slough, which The Linnets lost 2-1.
Police dealt with the incident at around 5.30pm on bank holiday Monday.
A police spokesman said: 'Two men were arrested at King's Lynn Football Club at approximately 5.35pm yesterday (Monday, May 7) on suspicion of public order offences.
'One man in his 40s and another in his 60s, and both from the King's Lynn area, remain in police custody. Police enquiries continue.'
The match was particularly important as the prize was a promotion to the National League set-up.
King's Lynn Town had good expectations of winning, as the club went into the game on the back of a 12-match unbeaten run.
It was looking as if Lynn's dreams might come true when Toby Hilliard scored the first goal of the match in the 27th minute.
However it was not to be as Slough's Chris Flood levelled the score just before half time, and substitute Manny Williams scored the winning goal in the 89th minute of the game.
