A driver who caused a serious collision has received a four-week ban after magistrates heard that a longer ban would make travelling a 'pain'.
At Norwich Magistrates' Court, James Larter, 26, of Priory Road, Bacton, admitted driving without due care and attention.
The father-of-two was driving his Ford Focus on the A148 near Beeston Regis, on December 30 2017 when he caused the collision by turning right without checking if the road was clear.
Mr Larter told the court he needed to drive to get to work as a chef at a cafe six miles from his home as there were no buses in time for his 8am start. He also said he would need to drive to visit his children in Portsmouth and North Walsham.
The court hear Mr Larter had eight points on his licence. The possible additional three points would mean a six-month ban but magistrates opted for a 28-day ban and a £635 fine.
