A windfarm technician's 'moment of utter stupidity' cost him a driving ban and £670 in fines and costs.
James Landry, of Rockall Way, Caister, was caught by police drink driving in a friend's VW Scirocco in Gorleston on October 6.
The 27-year-old admitted drink driving without a licence or insurance at Great Yarmouth Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
Prosecuting Lesla Small said he was stopped by police in Lowestoft Road, Gorleston, just after midnight.
Officers wanted to check his documents and had seen him driving erratically, she said, and once stopped they could smell alcohol.
Originally he gave his name as the vehicle's owners.
Robert Barley for Landry said he had never been in trouble before and realised it was 'a moment of utter stupidity.'
He said: 'He borrowed a friends car and was driving back and was caught it was as simple as that. He had gone out that evening and had a couple of drinks.
'He realises he is a fool and has made a mistake.'
A roadside breath test gave a reading of 50 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.
Chairman of the bench Jim Agnew said he faced an inevitable 12 month disqualification and a driving course.
Landry was ordered to pay fines and costs totalling £670.
