A man found with 180 indecent images of children has been given a three year community order so he can get the help he needs.
Thomas Hannant, 29, was found to have the images on his computer when police searched his address in Springbank, Lakenham, Norwich Crown Court heard.
Chris Youell, prosecuting, said that 100 of the images were 'moving images' and said the material had been downloaded between April and August, last year.
Hannant, who now lives at Mancroft Walk, Norwich, admitted possession of indecent images of children and possession of extreme porn.
Rob New, for Hannant, said that he had started looking at adult porn and had then got drawn into accessing child images.
'He progressed from adult porn to a downward spiral to what the police found on his computer.'
He said that it was for a short period of time and he deserved credit for his guilty plea.
He said that Hannant wanted help.
Judge Stephen Holt imposed a three year community order under which Hannant will take part in a sex offender treatment programme
He was also placed on the sex offender register for five years.
He said that Hannant must now put his effort into the working with the programme offered.
