A teenager has been banned from entering a school, a supermarket, a petrol station and community centre in Thorpe St Andrew.

Police issued the 14-year-old with a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) after he was linked to spate of incidents in the town over the past 12 months.

It comes less than a year after the boy, who lives in Thorpe St Andrew, was issued with a similar court order for offences ranging from attempted theft, verbal abuse and throwing eggs.

Police said the first injunction worked for around six months, until he started breaching the conditions.

Meanwhile, his mother has also been given a 12-month parental order, which requires her to work with a youth offending team.

The conditions of the teenager's CBO state that he must not:

• Associate with certain named individuals.

• Enter the grounds of Thorpe St Andrew High School, on Laundry Lane.

• Enter the Sainsbury's superstore site including the car park, petrol station and associated buildings, including The Dussindale Centre.

• Act in a way which causes, or is likely to cause, any nuisance, annoyance, harassment, alarm or distress. This includes foul offensive, abusive or threatening language.

The teenager, who has not been named by police, was given the CBO on Thursday, July 13.

Thorpe St Andrew town councillor Jonathan Emsell said he was pleased police were taking action, but added: 'It is only the same action they took a year ago and it didn't really solve the problem.'

Last year Norfolk Police was granted its first ever ASB injunction from the courts in response to the teenager's actions.

Aged just 13 at the time, he was banned from hiding his identity with clothing in the town, causing nuisance, being in possession of eggs or solvents in a public place and playing loud music.

Sgt Helen Howes, from the operational partnership team, said: 'I hope this order provides further reassurance to residents living in the Thorpe St Andrew area that we are responding to concerns about anti-social behaviour within the community and will not tolerate people who cause a nuisance.

'We will continue to focus our patrols in the area and will pursue prosecutions against those who persistently commit offences.'
