Residents in Cromer are being urged to be vigilant against cold callers after a man was conned out of cash.

The 63-year-old victim handed over 100 to an unknown man after he called at his Cliff Avenue home saying he was collecting money for the repair of fencing behind his property, carried out several months previously.

But police said the work was never carried out and are now reminding homeowners to be on their guard and never hand over money or bank details to anyone who calls unannounced.

Anyone with information relating to the Cliff Avenue incident, which happened between 10.30am and 11am last Thursday, or who thinks they have been targeted in a similar way should call PC Adrian Craske on 0845 456 4567 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
