Castle Mall could have been mistaken for a scene from Alice in Wonderland, as families enjoyed an array of activities and film-inspired fun.

The event this week celebrated the newly-released film Alice Through the Looking Glass, which stars Johnny Depp and Anne Hathaway.

Hundreds of children stepped into the magical world to meet favourite characters including Alice and the Mad Hatter.

Tweedledum and Twedledee entertained the large crowds with tricks, jokes and dancing.

The famous twins hosted a competition to find the best fancy dress costumes.

In the crowds there were many blue dresses, Cheshire Cat outfits and Mad Hatter hats. There was also a chance for the children to get creative at a Wonderland craft workshop.

They learnt how to create handmade costumes, including the Red Queen's crown, Alice's looking glass and dormouse and hare masks.

Families were on the hunt for giant playing cards hidden around the mall – and those who spotted them were in with a chance to win chocolate treats.

There was plenty of opportunity to make memories, as the characters posed for photographs while walking round the mall on stilts.
