A Norwich-based charity has received £5,000 to fund a group aimed at supporting young women living in areas of high deprivation.

The Girls4Real group, which is based at the West Earlham Community Centre, provides support and opportunities for girls aged 11 to 16.

It runs fortnightly on a Tuesday from 4pm to 6pm and aims to provide members with self-esteem and reduce the risk of exploitation.

The money, which was donated by the Santander Foundation, will enable the Henderson Trust to fund the group for one year.

Sally Fox, the charity's outreach manager, said: 'This grant means that we can continue our work, the girls themselves are all so pleased that their group will carry on for another year. This means that we can continue to support them to make positive choices and discuss some really difficult and sensitive issues in a safe space. This group is entirely led by the girls and their needs.'
