A new CCTV camera is to be installed in Fakenham, near to St Peter's Gardens, in an effort to combat growing reports of low level crimes in the area.

The camera will be paid for by the local council and connected to Fakenham Police Station in the hope that anti-social behaviour can be monitored and discouraged.

Town Mayor, George Acheson, said the site has been the scene of a number of problems including littering, bonfires, the burning of litter bins, loud music and drug use.

The town council said that incidents where litter bins had been set alight have not been serious enough to prompt a call-out from the fire service but added that the vandalism is causing damage to bins that were installed earlier this year.

Norfolk Police also confirmed that there have been on-going reports of anti-social behaviour in the area and three youths were recently found to be in possession of cannabis and 'dealt with accordingly'.
