A car was driven for five miles on the A47 near Dereham on the broken metal rims of its wheels before being abandoned.

The car, completely missing two tyres and with its windows smashed, was found in a lay-by on the A47 near Dereham at midnight on Tuesday after a motorist alerted police, concerned about how the car was being driven.

PC Steve Lee said on Twitter: 'This was driven along the #A47 in this shocking condition for approx 5 miles earlier tonight. 2 detained nearby.'

Two men were later located nearby and were arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs and dangerous driving.
