Hundreds of pounds worth of cannabis plants were seized from a home in Blundeston, near Lowestoft, today following a dawn raid by Suffolk police.

Officers called at the large detached house at 8.50am and arrested a man after they discovered what has been described as a “significant” quantity of cannabis.

More than 20 plants and hydroponic growing equipment were found in a number of rooms around the home. Police are still calculating the exact value of the haul which is expected to run into hundreds, if not thousands, of pounds.

Sgt Matt Bodmer, who took part in the raid, said: “We executed a warrant at 8.50am, based on community intelligence we have gathered over a considerable period.

“We have found a large number of plants and the hydroponic equipment used to grow them.

“This is a really positive result, and down to the hard work of our team who collated the intelligence that led to this warrant being executed.”

It is believed the home, which has considerable grounds, is owned by a man living in South Africa and is being rented to the 33-year-old and another woman.
