Dealing with cancer is hard at any time of the year, but it can be particularly difficult for families at Christmas.

That is why the Southwold and Reydon Cancer Support Group and local businesses have come together to help two terminally ill women and their families.

Chris and Jean Berry set up the group in October, following Chris' sudden diagnosis of non-Hodgkins double hit Lymphoma in April this year.

Mr Berry, said: 'We have helped two local ladies who both have terminal cancer to have some sort of last Christmas with their loved ones without the Christmas hassle. One has had some help with some gifts for relatives, and the other a special Christmas hamper, from us with the help of local businesses. 'We received a kind donation of £285 from the Randolph Hotel quiz night. We were totally surprised and thrilled by their kindness, and we decided to use this money and 'Pass It On' (plus some money we had in our kitty) to help two local ladies.'

Mr Berry added: 'We're always here to help, whether online at any time, or on Wednesdays at our meetings. We need people to come forwards and join us so that we can be of help to them. Not just cancer sufferers but their spouses or partners, friends or anyone that cares for them.

'If you don't personally need our help, then remember us when you hear of someone who does, and pass on our contact details.'

Donations were given by Mills & Sons Butchers, Adnams, Crab Apple Green Grocers, Two Magpies Bakery, Wow Vintage and Collen & Clare.

The support group meets every Wednesday from 1-5pm at the Stella Peskett Millenium Hall, Southwold where attendees are free to talk, listen and be offered advice and guidance. To find out more go to: www.southwoldandreydoncancersupport.co.uk
