The 1940s spirit has been celebrated in fine style in Wells.

The third annual Wells at War event was held at the Wells and Walsingham Light Railway on Saturday and Sunday.

About 2,000 people attended and enjoyed music, dancing, military re-enactments, fancy dress, train rides and a Spitfire flypast.

Nick Champion, manager of the Wells and Walsingham Light Railway, said: 'This event continues to grow in popularity and we've had re-enactors here from across East Anglia and from London.

'People love nostalgia and to see and experience how people used to live.

'It is a great celebration of that wartime spirit - of people coming together in adversity.'

He added: 'We've been really busy here- the cafe has been flat out and the trains have been running the whole time.'
