A call has been issued for more foster carers to come forward as the country marks an annual awareness-raising day.

Friday, Care Day, is dedicated to celebrating children in, or leaving, care, promoting their rights and raising awareness of issues that can affect them.

Norfolk County Council is currently looking for more foster carers to come forward and is using Care Day to spread the message.

Penny Carpenter, chairman of children's services committee, said: 'We are proud of the children in our care and want to celebrate them and their achievements.

'Care Day gives us a chance to highlight and champion the rights of children in care and care leavers.'

The In Care Council in Norfolk works with the county council to help shape and influence policy.

In the last few months it led on the implementation of MOMO app, where young people can share their views, experiences and achievements.
