A coastal hotel has gone on the market a month after it was repossessed by its owner.

The Manor Hotel in Mundesley is on offer for 845,000 with specialist agents Fleurets.

Owner Terry Burch repossessed the 24-bed hotel at the beginning of March after the company that leased it from him went into liquidation.

Soon after taking over the hotel he cancelled five weddings that had previously been booked, but said he did this for the couples' sake as he would not be able to give them the day they deserved due to a lack of staff.

Since then he has recruited more workers and stressed the hotel was open to guests and visitors and could hold smaller functions, but it had always been his intention to sell the clifftop venue.

'I have done empire building in the past and I don't want to do it any more,' he added. 'It was bought as an investment, it just went wrong.'

Mr Burch said he would continue to manage the hotel, which in the past two years has been extensively refurbished, until a suitable buyer is found.

Bob Whittle, Fleurets director, said: 'The Manor Hotel presents a wonderful opportunity to acquire a traditional East Anglian coastal hotel overlooking one of the best beaches on the Norfolk heritage coast.'
