The series of events, ‘Decom Live @’, aims to partner with local organisations to offer a safe networking environment for decom industry delegates helping to get businesses back to work, providing a platform to network, showcase opportunities, demonstrate equipment and technology, whilst sharing ideas and good practice.

The first event in the series in partnership with Aberdeen Harbour Board, ‘Decom Live @ Aberdeen Harbour’, will be a two-day outdoor event taking place September 8-9 at Blaikies Quay.

The event will be one of the first networking events to go live in the oil and gas industry following on from the pandemic, and the outdoor location will allow for social distancing adhering to Government guidelines to ensure delegate safety.

The organisers are also supporting local catering businesses that have been hit hard during the pandemic and are offering free of charge areas for caterers to set up contactless catering points for delegates.

Commenting on the event, interim managing director for Decom North Sea, Will Rowley, said: “The late-life and decommissioning sector supply chain is a key sector for activity and growth for Aberdeen and this event is a great way for DNS and Aberdeen Harbour Board to show its support for the sector.

“The new series is a great addition in helping the decom industry get back to work offering a glimmer of normality back to business life. With the support of Aberdeen Harbour we have a low-cost and safe event planned that will showcase the decommissioning sector, support local businesses and underpins the self-determination and grit needed to prosper in a tough market.”

Marlene Mitchell, commercial manager at Aberdeen Harbour Board, said: “Aberdeen Harbour Board is delighted to partner with Decom North Sea in the inaugural Decom Live event. Aberdeen Harbour in conjunction with our extensive local supply chain offers a fantastic array of solutions in the decommissioning space and this event will be the first of many opportunities for organisations to share their innovative solutions with influencers and decision makers. As always we remain committed to the ongoing delivery of safe and effective solutions focused on supporting cost reduction targets.”
