Freezing and chilling equipment manufacturer Starfrost is celebrating three decades at the forefront of technical innovation for the global food processing industry – by moving its UK base in Lowestoft to new premises in Oulton Broad.

Established in 1984, Starfrost is an international market leader in offering bespoke Individual Quick Freeze (IQF) equipment.

With Starfrost's engineering team working alongside food manufacturers in more than 50 countries worldwide to develop custom designed IQF solutions, the firm's 30th anniversary coincides with a significant move – having just relocated its UK headquarters and manufacturing base in Lowestoft to a larger, purpose-built facility at Oulton Broad.

At more than 1,000sq m, the waterside business premises in Craftsmans Way features office space and meeting rooms, as well as a large engineering workshop and equipment maintenance centre. And with further space available on site for expansion, the facility looks set to provide Starfrost with an ideal base for years to come.

Starfrost sales director Rob Long said: 'Our success over the past 30 years has been built on our commitment to developing bespoke equipment and pioneering advancements in IQF technology.

'Our new headquarters and manufacturing base will enable us to meet increasing demand from our growing customer base of food processors in the UK and worldwide.'

Starfrost's new headquarters also feature a fully-equipped test facility, which simulates different freezing and chilling processes – giving engineers the opportunity to calculate the optimum conditions required for each food product.

Mr Long added: 'We are dedicated to working closely alongside food manufacturers to develop the best IQF solution, whatever the food product. Our main aim is to ensure maximum throughput and efficiency, as well as low energy costs for our customers.'

As part of the recent expansion, Starfrost has made Sam Welch UK and Ireland sales manager. A new service manager will boost customer support and after-sales service. Starfrost has also increased its permanent manufacturing workforce by appointing a new engineer.
