A popular spring country fair has found a new venue after a 'review of future commercial plans' prompted its departure from the Norfolk Showground.

The East Anglian Game and Country Fair was held for 13 years at the Royal Norfolk Agricultural Association's (RNAA's) showground at Costessey.

But after the RNAA's commercial review, next year's event will be held at the Euston Estate near Thetford on April 22 and 23.

Tracey Grand, one of the event organisers, said: 'We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Norfolk Showground for allowing us to build and develop one of the biggest, most well-attended and highly-regarded events in East Anglia.

'We are delighted to announce that we will be hosting our 14th East Anglian Game and Country Fair on the Euston Estate near Thetford, just off the A11, by kind permission of The Duke and Duchess of Grafton

'This beautiful venue lends itself to a game and country fair setting, along with offering us the opportunities to further evolve and develop the show, with the space and freedom to invite new attractions and events, whilst ensuring that the popular events that we have always enjoyed remain.'

An RNAA spokesman said: 'Earlier this year, the Royal Norfolk Agricultural Association carried out a review of its future commercial plans and developments and decided that from 2017 it will no longer be able to make the Norfolk Showground available to Grand Promotion Events Limited for the East Anglian Game and Country Fair. We would like to thank them for their support and wish them every success in the future.

'As the region's largest events location, we have exciting plans for new events in 2017 and are looking forward to welcoming around 500,000 people back to the Norfolk Showground next year.'
