A new charitable organisation which will ensure the long term future of Lowestoft's Marina Theatre is appealing for people to become trustees.
The trustees will form the governing board of the newly created Marina Theatre Trust which will take over the running of the Edwardian building from Waveney District Council.
As well as continuing the Marina's reputation at attracting top shows and acts, the trust may support other cultural and tourism activities in the area.
It is hoped the trust will be fully up and running in the autumn, with a shadow board in place by mid July before the hand over from the district council.
Theatre manager Martin Halliday said: 'Forming the Marina Theatre Trust is an excellent way to safeguard of what is, without doubt, the cultural jewel in the district's crown.'
The closing date for trustee applications is Thursday, June 30 and a short list of candidates will be interviewed on July 8.
For information contact Mr Halliday on 01502 533202 or email marinatheatretrust@waveney.gov.uk
An opening evening explaining the roles of trustees will be held at the Marina Theatre on June 16 from 6.30pm.
