BECCLES Town Council and Sea Cadets are joining forces to put on a weekend of celebrations in the town to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

There will be two days of activities and free entertainment in the town, with much to see and do.

On Sunday, June 3 there will be entertainment in the town centre from noon to 3pm, with a party in the Public Hall for especially invited deserving children.

On Monday, June 4 there will be much to see at Beccles Quay with a flotillas on the River Waveney from the Lido and Yachting Station from 1.30pm.

There will also be a grand parade of uniform youth organisations, picnic in the park and music from 3-11pm, with a torchlight procession from the Sea Cadets at 10pm.

Loraine Loffstadt, one of the organisers, said: 'We are asking for the all residents of the town, down Northgate and around the quay area to decorate their homes with bunting and flags etc to ensure we make Beccles a town that looks like they are celebrating their Queen's 60 years of reign.'

To book a stall contact 01502 719712, 01502 475261 or 07773493160, or for more details on joining the flotilla call 01502 712225.

Meanwhile, in Bungay a willing group of volunteers joined together last Friday as they continued their preparations to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

The group spent hours working hard to create bunting out of donated materials and are now a third of their way to their target of 300 metres.

Volunteers are also welcome to collect a pack containing a pattern and material to make it at home and then deliver it to the library.
