West Norfolk councillor Alistair Beales said he had spoken to representatives from Sibelco this morning and the company was taking the incident 'very seriously'.
'It sounds like a tragic accident,' Mr Beales added. 'I'm going to meet with Sibelco, the owners of the site and the local police, to see what, if anything, we can do differently in the future.
'Sibelco are taking it very seriously. They're very concerned. We're going to meet tomorrow to discuss all the issues.
'How can you encourage people to enjoy the landscape and stop people swimming.'
