An 87-year-old woman was recovering in hospital tonight after being robbed of her hand bag in Norwich.

An 87-year-old woman was recovering in hospital tonight after being robbed of her hand bag in Norwich.

The pensioner suffered head and should injuries and was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital following the attack just after 10am. She remains at the hospital in what has been described as a stable condition.

The victim was robbed of her handbag in the Stuart Gardens area before making her way to Recorder Road.

Officers are keen to speak to a number of people who are believed to have been in the area at the time of the incident and may have witnessed what happened. They are also keen to speak to anyone who saw anyone acting suspiciously at this time.

A 26 year-old man and a 19 year-old woman, both from the Norwich area, have since been arrested on suspicion of robbery. They spent last night in custody at Bethel Street Police station awaiting questioning.
