IAN CLARKE

Motorists who were facing a 32-mile diversion while roadworks were carried out received good news today as the project finished a week ahead of schedule.

The B1145 between Bawdeswell and Reepham has been shut since November 13 and the work should have taken five weeks.

Roads of an alternative 'B' category or above are needed to be used to make sure the diversion is suitable for larger vehicles, so the long route to Norwich was set up

But the road reopened earlier than expected on the £154,720 project.
