This year's Norfolk and Norwich Festival drew to a close with a sunny and chilled out weekend in Norwich's Chapelfield Gardens and an array of performances across the city.

Music, dance and festivities filled the city park as festival-goers enjoyed the last few days of the pop-up Spiegeltent Gardens.

A duo from Candoco Dance Company - a contemporary dance group of disabled and non-disabled dancers - delighted audiences on Saturday with the beautiful dance duet, You and I Know, about falling in and out of love over and over again, meanwhile tech jazz trio Moon Hooch also performed in the park after playing in the Adnams Spiegeltent the night before. The Public Jukebox - which has been touring the city throughout the festival - added a crazy soundtrack to the weekend with people picking everything from Christmas songs to whale noises to rock anthems from its quirky playlist.

The Adnams Spiegeltent's music programme finished with a bang as Brussels-based band La Chiva Gantiva raised the roof of the iconic tent and had the whole audience dancing to the carnivalesque beats, and other events across the city included everything from Norwich Cathedral Choir performing the music of Faure and Poulenc to children's show Mary English at Norwich Puppet Theatre to experimental psych-rock act Prince Rama playing the last event of the festival [Live] Art Club programme at Norwich Arts Centre.

Festival-goers were also able to catch the last performances of shows including Wild Life, Spindrift and White Nights.

Reflecting in this year's arts extravaganza, artistic director William Galinsky said he was delighted with the response from audiences who he described as 'fabulous'.

'The audiences have been so generous in terms of feedback and people genuinely seem to have loved the programme, particularly the outdoor programme,' he said.

'What I have really loved this year is the response to the free outdoor work and I want to make sure we continue to do a lot of outdoor work.'

He said he was also really proud of the festival's original commissions this year - including Walk With Me, Wild Life, Spindrift, It's Happening In Norwich, Fierce Light, The Tempest and The Festival Commission.

'It's really nice to be able to make our own work. It's really nice to feel we are doing something very unique to this city and this region and that the audience is excited about that.'

And he said the mix of work coming from The Netherlands was also among the many other parts of the programme that had proven especially popular.

'Each year we try to do something a bit different and I think this year has been great - got to go onto the next one now!' he said, adding that, while he could not go in to details about the 2017 festival at this stage, he hoped to bring more free work to next year's festival and that there were plans for a big performance project with festival regular The Voice Project.
