The first woman in the world to ski across Antarctica alone will be the featured guest speaker at a major Women's Institute event.

The Norfolk Federation Women's Institute 2017 annual general meeting will include an appearance by Felicity Aston, an explorer and former climate scientist who has completed several record-breaking treks across the Antarctic.

She is also an ambassador for the British Antarctic Monument Trust.

The AGM will take place tomorrow (March 28) at St Andrew's Hall in Norwich from 10.45am to 3.30pm and Ms Aston will speak in the afternoon. Morning speakers will include Sarah Cross from the JonEgging Trust, which promotes teamwork and leadership among 13 to 16-year-olds, based at Downham Market Academy and RAF Marham.

Jane Whitbread of Schoolreaders, an organisation that aims to help children improve their literacy, will also speak at the meeting.
