An entrepreneur who gave a makeover to a 300-year-old pub is now providing makeovers for her customers inside it.

When aesthetic practitioner Anne Chandler and her husband Chris bought the Old White Horse in Shipdham, she had plans to open her own clinic and work from home.

She and Chris, an ex Light Dragoon, spent two years renovating the property – which had previously been occupied by the same family for 75 years.

Now Ageless Cosmetics is open for business, offering a range of aesthetic treatments to the surrounding rural villages.

A former midwife, Mrs Chandler said she opted to go into aesthetic practice after having cosmetic treatments herself and finding the services were 'not good value for money'.

The former midwife now runs her clinic from the 18th century building's former kitchen, providing treatments from fillers and hair removal to more specialist procedures like vein dispersal (micro-sclerotherapy), micro-needling, and skin tag and veruca removals.

The 50-year-old said: 'We have rejuvenated the building, now we need to rejuvenate people.

'Going to a lot of these sort of places, you get treated by a young woman who looks perfect, and I think a lot of women are intimidated by that.

'I tend to see women for a consultation first and then we discuss various treatments and options for them. It is a more one on one service – I like giving that kind of care.

'I have only just started the business but I am already getting a lot of people enquiring. My husband works away from home so I can fit my hours around him.'

Of the renovation, she said: 'We have tried to make the building in-keeping with how it was before, bringing up the stone floors and keeping the beams.'

Alongside her aesthetic practice, Mrs Chandler still does midwifery shifts at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
