The father of a young serviceman killed in a motorcycle accident said he could now "move on" following his son's inquest.

Jack Foreman, 20, of Westhall in Stradbroke was tragically killed after his Suzuki motorbike collided with a BMW pulling out of a junction in the village on March 19 last year.

It was just two months before he was due to be married to his fiancée Melissa Stacey, then 18, who was expecting their first child.

At the inquest, at Lowestoft Magistrates' Court, coroner Peter Dean recorded a verdict of accidental death, saying the crash was a "tragic accident" and it was not his role to apportion blame.

However, in May this year the driver of the BMW, Richard Hayter-Gare of Woodfields in Stradbroke, was convicted of careless driving at Lowestoft Magistrates' Court. He was disqualified from driving for a year and fined £1,000.

Mr Dean told the inquest that Mr Foreman, a senior aircraftsman in the RAF stationed at Coltishall, had been riding along New Street in Stradbroke when he collided with Mr Hayter-Gare's BMW as it pulled out of the Woodfields junction.

He was thrown from his motorbike and died at the scene from multiple injuries.

Witness statements read out by Mr Dean estimated Foreman's speed to be between 30mph and 35mph.

Further evidence came from PC Andrew Garden of Bury St Edmunds Roads Policing Unit who estimated the motorcycle would have had to be travelling at between 67mph and 94mph to be out of Mr Hayter-Gare's sight when he was at the junction.

He added: "In my opinion this was not a high speed accident and the motorcycle was available to be seen."

Speaking after the inquest, Nick Foreman, the victim's father, said that the verdict was what he expecting.

He said: "At least it is all finished now. It has been a long time. At least now we can move on."

He added that since his son's death, he had become a grandfather following the birth of Harvey Jack Foreman, now eight months old.

He said: "He's got all this to come, getting through life without a dad. We will have to get him through."
